本科毕业于中国矿业大学（2011-2015），博士毕业于澳大利亚莫纳什大学（2017-2021）。曾在沙特阿卜杜拉国王科技大学从事博士后研究工作。

主要研究方向为增强型地热能资源开发、微观岩石力学、数字岩心以及深度学习等。

Zhaoyang Ma earned his Ph.D. from Monash University, Australia, and completed postdoctoral research at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. In July 2024, he joined Nanjing University as an Assistant Professor. His research centers on the micro-deformation and cracking mechanisms of granite under deep subsurface conditions, which are vital for enhanced geothermal systems. He has developed an innovative approach that integrates micro-mechanics, molecular dynamics simulations, and in-situ XRD experiments to enable real-time observation of micro-scale deformation in heterogeneous rocks. Additionally, he pioneered a method for digital rock image segmentation and super-resolution using generative AI, significantly improving the understanding of fluid flow in porous media.

Dr. Ma has authored around 30 publications with more than 700 citations and holds five patents. He also serves on the Youth Editorial Board and as a scientific editor for three esteemed journals in mining and geotechnical engineering. His work aims to develop a multi-scale digital rock modeling platform to advance the exploitation of geothermal energy.
