2022年11月4日，南京大学国际处、南京大学全球人文研究院、南京大学艺术学院联合举办南京大学“全球视野周”系列讲座——动荡时代之旅：温德尔·威尔基的1942环球之旅。剑桥大学东亚研究所中国现代史教授、英国国家艺术学院院士方德万担任主讲人，南京大学艺术学院院长、全球人文研究院院长何成洲担任主持人。
前共和党总统候选人温德尔·威尔基曾作为美国总统罗斯福的特别代表飞往世界各地。在中东、苏联和中国，他会见过军事和政治领导人，也见过公共知识分子、商界人士、皇室成员、记者和学生。次年春天，他出版的《一个世界》（One World）极其畅销。这一旅行处于盟军还无法锁定胜利之时，当时美国、中东、印度和中国都在紧张地思考战后世界，追踪威尔基的旅程为我们提供了一个独特的视角。（Former Republican Presidential candidate Wendell Willkie flew around the world as US President Roosevelt special representative.
